Victor Paul Brang Tun

Born in Myit Kyi Na, Kachin State, Myanmar in 1992, Victor Paul Brang Tun is now a Singaporean citizen. He graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor in Fine Arts from LASALLE College of the Arts. His artistic practice addresses his hybrid identity as a Singaporean of Burmese and Kachin origin.

In his first group show “Left Here Right Now”, part of LASALLE Graduation show 2019, he dismantled a rattan chair and created new artworks from its deconstructed elements, expressing his struggle to build his own identity both as a citizen and a young artist. His second group show, “Kampong Glam Fantasia”, takes place both outdoors, in one of Arab Street’s back lanes, and at Intersections Gallery from 6 Jul to 8 Sept 2019.

Artwork Description

I AM ART

Mixed media on canvas

61 x 61 cm

2019

I AM ART continues with the artist’s self-referential look within his own paintings. This painting shows the night of Art Stage “I AM ART” launch party held in The Warehouse Hotel, 28 August 2018. As both an onlooker and a participant, the artist’s own voice and identity splits across the myriad social and economic webs that is built upon the frameworks of the Arts in Singapore.
